Some of my pages actually end up in the top ten of searches. To me that is very exciting. Now there are simple techniques you can use to increase your chances of getting to the top in searches by potential customers.
There are a couple of old direct mail terms called recency and frequency. In direct mail those terms relate to sending out additional sales brochures to people based on the number of times they purchased through direct mail and how soon after a purchase they bought again.
In search engine optimization those terms appear again based on keywords. How often are you using a keyword on your page? In a number of paragraphs on the page how many times did you use the keyword? Are the words relevant to the topic of the page?
so boring… who could benefit from those childish tips?
I still haven’t resolved the dilemna of choosing a keyword(s) which does everything. You need it to be a popular term, which is searched for many times a day; it needs to have a level of competition such as to give you a chance of a top ten position; third, it must have a logical connection, for visitors, to what you are promoting on your sales page.
You don’t need me to tell you that it’s not easy to satisfy all three of these conditions. It makes me wonder if organic traffic really is the way to go for some products. Because, as long as the end sale is valuable enough, it’s a million times easier just to do some AdWords advertising.
Not sure whether the mentioned above SEO practices still assume importance in this era of Web 2.0 ?
