Today I am going to talk about 3 SEO Factors that many SEO specialist conduct Search Engine Optimization Training courses about but do not talk about this and if they do talk there is not much emphasis put on these topics as compared to on-page and of-page optimization.
Search engines like google do everything for their customers so they have a good user experience and they come to google more often, for the users to have a good user experience google will want to only show them the most relevant search result when they are search for something.
In order to show the most relevant results google needs its webmasters to follow certain guidelines and today I am going to share with you some of the most important SEO factors that you probably know about but you don’t pay to much of attention.

1.Create Unique and Clickable Page Titles
You need to create unique page titles, page titles are what show up at the top of your site its like a title for the site. This title is also show in google when a person conducts a search.
Just having the keyword in the title is not enough The Page title need to make scene, and should entice the reader to click the link.
Look at the example below I typed in the keyword HOW TO SING and the Page title of the first site just says “HOW TO SING”. Now I do want to know how to sing but if someone else is showing me how to sing fast I would most likely listen to them.
Look at the second listing it tell me “How to sing – learn How to Sing Fast” now that sound interesting and I am excited to know how I can learn to sing fast so there is a good chance I will click that link first. In fact I like the 4th title as well “Learn How To Sing Better Fast – Your #1 Guide To Great Singing” Now I not only can learn to sing fast but can also sing better.
Please remember a majority of the people surfing the internet don’t know about SEO and title tags they just type what they want to know and whatever title is catchy they will click it. So you need to take some time and work on your page titles
Each page on your site should have a unique page title, do not use a single title tag across all the pages on your site.
Choose a Title tag that is relevant to your content it should have the keyword in it and should be enticing and clickable
Do not make your page titles to long or google will just choose a title they think is relevant and they won’t take your title.
2. Use The Meta Description To Expand On Your Page Title.
When you write a description for a site let it not be stuffed with keywords the description should be informative and should be an extension of the Page Title.
The Description Meta Tags are important because this tells google and other search engines a summary of your webpage. This description is also seen on the google search engines by people looking for the relevant information.
Lets look at the same example of HOW TO SING now look at the description for the first search result it says
“How to Sing. Singing is a skill based on muscle memory. It is an extension of speech. To become a “good” singer you must be able to breathe properly, sing with …”
Now this description talks about what is needed for singing and its skilled based on muscle memory it also says its a extension of speech, honestly I just want to know how to sing I do not want this information.
Lets look at a good example where the description is the extension of the title. In this example the description is “LEARN HOW TO SING BETTER FAST – Your Ultimate Guide to Great Singing. Includes Vocal Warm Ups, Exercises, Tips, Tricks, and a Free Report You Can’t” Now this description giving me information I want in fact it tells me i am going to get something free as well so I definitely want to visit this site on what I have seen in the Title and description.
Things you should avoid doing in your description
- Do not have the same meta description on all the pages
- Your description must describe your web page
- Do not fill the description with keywords
- Do not copy paste the content of your site into your description.
3. URL Structures are important for SEO
Your site has to be organized well at the back end, as a good practice you should create descriptive categories and file names for the documents on your website this helps the files and folders stay organized and leads to better crawling of your web pages in the search engines.
If you are not careful you site urls can be very long confusing and hard to remember for your site visitors, moreover visitors might find long urls with text and numbers very cryptic. Many times you will see visitors not linking to the complete url of your site as they might think the additional text is not needed and this will create a broken link. Some users will link to your page using the entire url and that can be pretty ugly if you have a long url with numbers and symbols.
Your website urls are displayed in the search engines as well and you would want to make them as search engine friendly as possible and they should look neat as well.
Here is a example of a Bad URL
http://www.example.com/index.php?id_sezione=360&sid=5a6ebf933f41
Her is a Example of a Good URL
http://www.example.com/pink-laptop-bags.html
This url structure is preferred to
http://www.example.com/pinklaptopbags.html
If you are using the wordpress platform all you need to do is go to your dashboard and in the setting go the permalinks and choose the CUSTOUM option and type this in /%postname% and you should have good looking urls.
If you are using html or any other platform for your websites make sure you follow the above example for the url structure.
